The Film 'Together' Is Now Streaming, and It Might Make or Break Your Romantic Bond.

We present a dare for those in enduring partnerships who enjoy horror films: Sit down with your significant other and watch Together. This critically acclaimed 2025 movie has now made its launch on a streaming platform on Hulu. On the surface, it may seem like typical physical horror, but inside Together resides a profound examination about how we choose to love one another.

An Introductory Film Investigating Relationship Dynamics

Together represents the debut feature-length film for filmmaker Michael Shanks. It stars Dave Franco and Alison Brie as Tim and Millie, partners that have stayed together for a decade. Having wed in real life in 2017, the two stars infuse a unique chemistry to their roles, masterfully depicting both the strengths and weaknesses of a long-term relationship.

The narrative commences when the couple move from the metropolis to the rural area for her career. A familiar plot device, sure, but that’s mostly where the cliches end. Together becomes as much a deep dive into the psyche of the pair’s relationship as it is a movie featuring biological frights.

A Supernatural Catalyst

While hiking near their country house, a storm hits, and the two tumble into an subterranean cavern. After a night spent there and managing to escape, a mysterious influence takes hold of the couple. This force compels a paranormal intimacy between them that goes well past typical partnership.

The complete narrative is a gradually intensifying fright fest, weaving in moments of fever-dream horrors, disturbing (but never too gross) biological grotesqueries, and surprisingly comedic dialogue (sometimes amidst something horrific). The director weaves these elements together expertly and wraps them up in a slowly mounting atmosphere of fear.

Complex Characterizations

A large part of Together is only the two lead actors, and they deftly portray manifold depths to the characters’ relationship. Millie's sense of self and sense of connection is suffering due to a lack of intimacy. Her unspoken irritation of Tim for his hesitance to pursue anything but his failing musical ambitions gradually emerges.

In contrast, Tim's character experiences isolation and cut off by Millie, who’s the cause they’ve relocated rural and far away from his network of friends. He is terrified of the notion of completely losing his personal autonomy in another person. This fear is further exacerbated by the reality he can’t drive and is dependent on Millie for transportation.

Shanks’ smartest move in Together refrains from painting one partner or the other the definite antagonist.

The couple grapple with the sort of issues that arise in most partnerships after ten years. At their core, they still love one another. They share moments of joy, provide solace, and open up at times. But beneath it all, there’s an unavoidable undercurrent of doubt about their future together.

Thematic Depth

While the otherworldly presence in Together symbolize these anxieties of unhealthy attachment and giving oneself over to a partner, the metaphor does not come across as hamfisted or pretentious. Instead, these visceral horror elements provide a brilliant analogue to the relationship narrative. Both the frights and the fights serve the other in harmony.

A Divisive Ending

Together’s ending, which remains unspoiled, has sparked debate on the movie's final takeaway about codependent relationships. Reports indicate that single viewers have interpreted the film as a strong argument for remaining unattached. Conversely, a few pairs having disagreements found that the film ultimately assisted them resolve their issues.

Regardless of your relationship status, your own reaction could function as a telling indicator of how you view relationships. Will the ending sow feelings of uneasiness and dread, or a positive outlook on love? Will you see yourself in Tim or Millie and scream at your TV, or simply look at your partner and utter, “I understand that choice”?

Regardless of the outcome, Together is an exploration you can undertake right now.

Together is streaming on Hulu as of this moment.
